 Our History:

Palawdesign, was founded in 2015 in Kabul, Afghanistan by Nazifa Jalali, a 23 years old award-winning Afghan women’s rights activist. Within a year the company expanded and hired 2500 women from 16 provinces of Afghanistan. Many of the women hired are from one of the most disadvantaged sections of the society such as orphans, widows and disabled by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and acquire new skills.  From 2015 to 2021, we organized 125 exhibitions inside and outside Afghanistan, creating dozens of job opportunities and 15000$ monthly net   income, monthly14000$ of the income was used for social empowerment of our target communities,  from 2015 to 2021, and was able to invest in other sectors for women and children, for example, with the income of this company,  we established a school for children in Zabul province, a restaurant that was run by disabled women and we organized awareness programs on Law on Prohibition of Violence Against Women, Law on Children, civil law and constitution law for women in 34 provinces of Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, upon the takeover of Kabul by the Talibn in 2021, the company and all its non for profit activities including the restaurant and school were closed by the Taliban.

The license of this company was revoked by the Taliban and the equipment of this company, including machines and materials used for handicrafts, was confiscated by them.

Fortunately in 2023, the company was registered in Norway where its founder Ms. Nazifa is exiled and lives with her family. The company continues to produce its products in Afghanistan, and sell it in Norway and across Europe using online platforms and organizing exhibitions. It has hired more than 500 women in Afghanistan.

Palawdesign aims to continue empowering Afghan women through business.Currenlty, it has hired 500 women across Afghanistan.
